Learning Knows No Bounds

CWDR offers an array of assistive toys for children with disabilities between the ages of 2-5 years old.  In addition, we provide toy training to see which toy would work best for a child’s different stages of learning.  Families may bring in their children to try out and play with the various toys Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  Our Assistive Device Coordinator, Mayra, is available to bring the assistive toys to children in their homes for free demonstrations and playtime.  Click on the links below to see what assistive toys are available.  For more information, contact Mayra Colazo at 509-962-9620 or by e-mail at mayra@mycwdr.org.

Play Groups – CWDR provides weekly Play Groups to families with children who have special needs ages 2-5 years. Play Groups are a small gathering consisting of a child with a special need, their parents/caregivers and their siblings. Groups gather for fun, play, support and social interaction between family and friends. Play groups are broken down by age categories to ensure developmentally appropriate experiences that include a range of activities, social play, free play, themed play and/or art, Vtech tablets and craft activities. These play groups enable children to interact with peers and learn about social expectations and cues in a fail free play zone. We welcome you to join in the fun to meet and learn from other parents, siblings and children and experience newfound friendships in a healthy, nurturing environment.

Individual Play Sessions- One on One play time to encourage kids to start learning how to use either the traditional or the adapted toys. Giving them a quieter atmosphere.
Parent Training/Advocacy – Gathering parents to share advice and experiences
Parent Resource library– Parenting and play ideas, disability information, referrals to additional services and help in advocating for their child
